Canopy Tour & Ziplines
Experience the New River Gorge from a new perspective!
Close your eyes, lift your feet, lean back in your harness and feel the adrenaline course through your veins! Hear the zzzziiiipping noise of the trolley carrying you down the cable and feel the wind in your face. The ten ziplines and four sky-bridges cross Mill Creek Canyon, a small pristine stream hidden by dense rhododrendron and cliffs.
This 3 & 1/2 hour adventure touches all your senses and creates unforgettable memories as you soar via a network of cables from one tree platform high above Mill Creek to another! Groups of 8 depart each half hour and are led by two trained guides. TreeTops Canopy Tour is fun and for most ages and abilities. This first New River Gorge Canopy Tour was designed and built by Bonsai Design, a world class sustainable canopy tour design company.
West Virginia should be called, the "River State"! With hundreds of miles of streams, West Virginia offers excellent smallmouth bass fishing and trout fishing opportunities. The New River is the best warm water fishery in the State. Below the surface of the New River, the same section of we raft, the water teams with smallmouth bass. Our smallmouth bass fishing trips float the pools, eddies and rapids which are hard to access by foot. If you want to catch the big bass on the New River, now is the time to fish the New River. Call now to book your next West Virginia fishing trip on the New River with Mountain State Anglers...
New! Bridge Walk Tours Underneath the New River Gorge Bridge
Beginning in the Spring of 2010, New River Gorge visitors will be able to walk across the canyon on a 24 inch wide catwalk 850 feet above the river. The catwalk is an existing part of the structure of the New River Gorge Bridge that runs the entire 3,030 foot length of the Bridge. A catwalk tour of the highest vehicular bridge in North America and the second-highest single span arch bridge in the World is a truly unique experience.
The cliff walls of the New River Gorge quickly drop away as walkers make their way across the Bridge. Views of the New River Gorge open to reveal continuous cliffs, creeks and waterfalls, and the ever-changing colors of the Gorge. 850 feet directly below the walkway is Fayette Station Road, and the New River where you may see rafters come through Fayette station rapid, or watch a train make its way through the winding gorge.
It is amazing to walk on the actual structure of the Bridge. To be so close to the geometry of the iron beams that create the iconic arch and see it rise beneath your feet while traffic continues up and down Route 19 overhead is an incredible experience. Walking on this immense structure gives a sense of appreciation for the engineering skills that went into creating the New River Gorge Bridge.
Whether you are drawn to the amazing views of the natural wonders of the New River Gorge, or the engineering feat of the Bridge itself, the Bridge is special to everyone for different reasons and a walk on the Bridge is an experience of a lifetime.
Bridge Walk tours will use an extensive safety system and it will be impossible to fall from the catwalk on a guided tour.
